You are invited to my solo exhibition, Painting in a State of Exception: Documents of Contemporary War, at the FAB Gallery, which is timed to aligned with World War I Armistice Day centenary commemorations on November 11, 2018. Please join me at the opening reception on Thursday, November 8 from 7-10pm, and runs until December 1, 2018. (Please see attached poster for details).
As an official Canadian war artist, I undertook a tour of duty through the Canadian Forces Artist Program with Canadian Forces Operation CALUMET at the Multinational Force and Observers North Camp, El Gorah, Northern Sinai, 2007. My mission was to witness and document the working lives of the Canadians serving at El Gorah.
The exhibition presents the final series of 12 paintings created from my participation in the Canadian Forces Artist Program. This will be the first time that all 12 paintings that make up the series have been shown together, and in their entirety.
I am also presenting an artist lecture about the work in this exhibition as part of the Department of Art & Design Visual Arts & Design Forum, at 5:15pm on Thursday, November 8, in 2-20 FAB.
Please feel free to post and share with your friends, the more the merrier!
