David Riddel is a Toronto based, multi-talented guitarist. The Edmonton native recently completed his studies in the University of Toronto jazz program and is beginning to make his versatility known in the city. Riddel flourishes in a variety of styles, from be-bop to experimental. Boasting a vast vocabulary transcending genre, Riddel makes bold statements with his soulful tone, thoughtful composing and moments of sheer madness.
In 2016, David played on Chelsea McBride's 'The Twilight Fall' which received 4 stars in Downbeat Magazine and was nominated for a Toronto Independent Music Award. His performance on the album has received praise from jazz critics around the country. David has performed all over the world in a variety of settings. He has performed at the Toronto Jazz Festival, the Edmonton Jazz Festival, the Kaslo Jazz Festival, the Hamilton Music awards and many more. David also works regularly with his own all-star ethereal art-rock group, Delusions of Grandeur, experimental jazz group Star Triptych and many other projects in Toronto's thriving music scene with many young and veteran artists.
David has studied with Mike Murley, Geoff Young, David Occhipinti, Kelly Jefferson, Dave Young, among others, and has performed with Chelsea McBride, Colleen Allen, 'Brownman' Ali, Christine Duncan, Alex Samaras and many more.
