Lieutenants and Lindy Hoppers! Start practicing your sailor kicks and fishtails — Spring Fling By the Sea is fast approaching!
Spring Fling is one of the largest swing dance workshops in Western Canada. Held annually over the May long weekend, this event features 4 nights of social dancing, 3 tracks of classes with some truly top-notch instructors, competitions, performances, and more!
Our incredible instructors for this year's event are:
Joel Schwarz and Louise Schwarz
Peter Flahiff and Lauren Smith
Anthony Chen and Irina Amzashvili
Our 3 tracks of classes for the weekend. and the expected level of experience for each one, are:...
Lieutenant: You’ve learned the basics of 6-count, 8-count, and Charleston, although you’re still working on ironing out some rough patches. You're mostly comfortable on the social floor, but higher tempos can be slightly challenging.
Captain: You can smoothly transition between 6-count, 8-count and Charleston at a variety of speeds. Your dancing is mostly clean and structured, and you want to improve your technique and musicality. You have a moderately large swing dance vocabulary and likely have some experience with other styles of swing dance (Balboa, Shag, Blues...)
Admiral: You have been dancing consistently for multiple years and have experience with performance teams or teaching. You have a broad knowledge of moves and variations, and are confident in dancing at a variety of tempos and to a variety of styles.
(Please note that the Captain and Admiral tracks are level-checked)
