A ritualistic journey deep into the somatic body with instructor Sonja Myllymaki.

Through physical training, personal sourcework and ritual structures we will be invited to open into a more transparent condition, extending beyond the limits of our domestication and conditioning. When the body is given the space to be fully expressed, magic happens.

This class is not just for dancers, but for anyone interested in exploring through the body their charges, their deep memories, their sense of what it is to be alive. I promise we'll be getting into some seriously weird and beautiful places.

Every Tuesday at 7 PM

$12 for MZD members
$15 drop-in for non-members
— Our 10-Class Card (available online at Eventbrite or at MZD studio) gives you access to 10 classes of your choice for just $100 (plus applicable taxes).
— About the instructor
Sonja Myllymaki has a B.A. in dance from SImon Fraser University. She has studied butoh with Jay and Barbara Hirabyashi, Koichi and Hiroko Tamano, Gustavo Collini-Sartor, Tedi Tafel, tarin chaplin, Natsu Nakajima, and, especially, Diego Piñon. Her dance has been informed by studies in the healing arts, including deep tissue work, craniosacral work and herbalism, and also by a deep immersion in shamanic work with plants.
